Shyne says he was "set up to be fall guy" in his upcoming documentary.

On Monday, October 21, Disney-ESPN’S Andscape dropped the official trailer for the rapper-turned-politician's star-studded film The Honorable Shyne. It opens with a deep dive into Moses "Shyne" Barrow's roots in Hip-Hop from his early days of his music career to his transition into politics. Midway through, Shyne revisits the night with Sean "Diddy" Combs and his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez in 1999 that changed his life forever.

“I was absolutely set up to be the fall guy,” Shyne claimed. “I spent 10 years in prison, but I was able to move on. There’s a time to pivot, there’s a time to transition.”

“I had nothing to do with a shooting in this club,” he added.

On the night of December 27, 1999, Barrow, Combs, his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and his former bodyguard bodyguard, Anthony “Wolf” Jones went to Club New York in Manhattan. While they were there, shots rang out inside the club. Natania Reuben was shot right in the nose right between her eyes and survived. She claimed Combs was the one who fired the gun after he allegedly got into an argument with a drug dealer.

Shyne was charged with first-degree assault, gun possession, and reckless endangerment. Combs and Jones were acquitted of gun possession and bribery. He went to prison for 10 years and was deported from the United States to his home country of Belize after he "took the fall" for Combs that night. Shyne previously claimed Combs destroyed his life during a recent interview with a Belize-based news outlet.

The documentary is directed by Marcus A. Clarke and executive produced by several people including Dwayne Bray, Talitha Watkins, Jason Aidoo, David Dennis, Jr., Justin Tinsley and others. It will show a side of Shyne that fans and constituents have never seen before. It also features guest appearances from Faith Evans, N.O.R.E., DJ Khaled, and more. The Honorable Shyne debuts exclusively on Hulu November 18.
