Donkey Of The Day For Tuesday, March 1st goes to John Demsey, who was a top executive at makeup company Estee Lauder. He was recently told by the company this week that he would be leaving the company after he shared a meme that didn't reflect the values of the Estee Lauder company.
Now no one wants to follow a page that reflects the values of the company, and John did choose entertainment over the company post a Sesame Street-themed meme. The post was directed at making fun of Covid 19 as well as including a racial slur.
In his apology, he said that he didn't read the meme before he posted it which made no sense as we all post memes because we read them first and shared them with our followers so they can feel the way we do. Now John it would have been a lot simpler if you just said the meme was funny and opened up a discussion but to say you didn't read the meme... Nobody can believe that.
