NBA Announcer Says Russell Westbrook Is "Out Of His Cotton Picking Mind"

Charlamagne Tha God awards Donkey Of The Day to Oklahoma FOX Sports Oklahoma play-by-play announcer Brian Davis, who is very white, for saying that Russell Westbrook is "out of his cotton picking mind." Davis has been the play-by-play announcer for the Oklahoma City Thunder for eight years. While he was trying to say that Westbrook was playing on a whole other level, Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to average a triple double 2 years in a row, using a clearly old and racist reference to cotton when speaking about a black guy is always a bad idea. Watch the clip below:

Twitter rightfully lost and its mind and people are calling for Davis to be fired.

The term "cotton picking" was a replacement for the word "damn" and clearly has its roots in racism and slavery. To use a term for a slave occupation when speaking about a successful black man in 2018 is not acceptable. For those trying to defend the statement, stop it. While it may have been in the heat of the moment, Brian Davis should have known better. It's absolutely, positively racist.
