Tuesday, October 12, is National Gumbo Day. While the dish originated in southern Louisiana during the 18th century, there are now great options all over America including San Francisco.
The stew-like Cajun dish is also perfect to warm you up on the chilly fall days ahead.
So where is the best gumbo in San Francisco?
According to Yelp, the best place to get gumbo in the city is Gumbo Social.
Their Yelp page is full of glowing reviews complimenting their authentic Cajun cuisine. Here's what one reviewer, Mike C., had to say about the gumbo:
"I would've posted a picture with my review, but this gumbo was so delicious there was no time for picture taking. This recipe is the perfect blend of spices and heat. If you're going to the farmer's market in Sunset, do not miss Gumbo Social."
