The fate of a Pennsylvania woman who admitted to lying about kidnapping and rape allegations made against a stranger has been determined.

Anjela Borisova Urumova, 20, was sentenced to 45 days to 23 months in Bucks County Correctional Facility, as well as one year of probation and will need to undergo a mental health evaluation and pay $3,600 in restitution to the victim, Daniel Pierson, after she filed a false police report in Middletown Township last year, according to a Bucks County news release. Urumova's false claim led to Pierson unjustifiably being jailed for 31 days until her admission.

Urumova pleaded guilty to one count each of false alarm to an agency of public safety and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, two counts of false reports and three counts of unsworn falsification to authorities in January. The 20-year-old is banned from having any contact with Pierson or his family.

"Not only did this targeted false report impact the victim and his family in unimaginable ways, but there is also a profound ripple effect," District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said in the news release. "A crime like this can shatter the community’s confidence in the system. It can jeopardize prosecutions of legitimate crimes of sexual violence."

"The prosecution and sentence of this defendant for a malicious false report demonstrates that this will not be tolerated."

Urumova claimed she was attacked by Pierson outside a supermarket on April 16, 2024 before eventually confessing to having fabricated the story. The 20-year-old said she "specifically targeted" Pierson because she saw him sitting in his blue Ford F-150 pickup truck in the are and thought he was "creepy."

The Middletown Township Police Department analyzed surveillance video and Urumova's cellphone data, leading "to the discovery of multiple inconsistencies and contradictory information with Urumova’s account of the attack at the Redner’s parking lot.”
