C-Knight, a founding member of the rap group The Dove Shack, has passed away.
A family member told TMZ that the veteran MC died on Tuesday, November 7, after he spent weeks on life support. Knight's family made the difficult decision to take him off of life support after he suffered from a stroke last month and never fully recovered. The Long Beach native was admitted to the hospital in mid-October due to his dangerously low blood sugar level caused by diabetes. During his stay, Knight had a stroke and went into cardiac arrest while he was on dialysis.
Knight, born Arnez Blount, was unresponsive ever since the stroke and didn't show any signs of getting better. His family remained hopeful that he would recover. However, following the results of an MRI, the family felt it was best for them to take him off life support. Knight was only 52.
Knight, Bo-Roc and 2Scoops made their debut as The Dove Shack in the 1990's on Warren G's album Regulate...G Funk Era. After they dropped "This Is The Shack," they went on to release their first album of the same name. The album's lead single "Summertime in the LBC" featuring Arnita Porter made an impact on the Billboard charts and even landed on the soundtrack for the rap-based documentary The Show. C-Knight released his first solo project Knight Time in 2001. The group followed up with its second and final album Reality Has Got Me Tied Up in 2006.
