Some of the biggest names in Hollywood will be on the auction block next month as more than 2,000 pieces of movie memorabilia goes on sale. Some of the items you can bid on during the "Icons & Legends of Hollywood" auction include costumes, props, and more.
The auction house, Profiles in History, brought the treasure trove of items together from some of Hollywood's biggest productions. One item like a practice chariot used during the production of Ben Hur, a leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger during the first "Terminator" movie as well as a dress worn by Elizabeth Taylor.
The "Icons & Legends of Hollywood" auction is set for June 5-8 in Calabasas, California.
If you're a "Star Wars" fan, you'll want to pay close attention. Several pieces of iconic movie memorabilia from Lucas' film series will be among the items offered, including the lightsaber wielded by Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars." The auction house believes that piece of movie history will sell for anywhere between $150,000 and $250,000.
People also have a shot at owning the 46-inch tall model of the Death Star used in "Return of the Jedi," as well as the models of C-3PO and Darth Vader created by Industrial Light and Magic.
But, don't worry Trekkies, the auction isn't leaving you out either. Organizers say they have plenty of items you'll find interesting with dozens of Star Trek costumes and props on sale.
The memorabilia auction also brings in some items from the Golden Age of Hollywood, such as a tuxedo worn during by James Dean during the filming of "GIANT." One of the items in the auction even dates back to one of Hollywood's earliest hits: a loincloth worn by the original Tarzan, Johnny Weissmuller in the 1932 film "Tarzan the Ape Man."
If you'd like to get a sneak peek at the movie memorabilia, several of the biggest items will be on display in New York at the Society of Illustrators beginning on May 15th.
