10 Years Later With Homeless Teen Sergei in Salt Lake City

In 2010 the Invisible People youtube channel posted an interview with Sergei. He was in Salt Lake City, Utah when the interviewer with Invisible People approached him and asked him if he would like some socks. He responded "I don't have any money" which was the first sign the interviewer had about how new Sergei was to the streets.

In the video, we find out that Sergei had recently come from a wilderness program for troubled youth in Duchesne, UT. His mother told him he would be on his own once he turned 18 and the day the interviewer talked with him on July 23, 2010, it was Sergei’s 18th birthday and it was also his first day being homeless.

He told the interviewer that he wanted to make it back to California to finish high school and hopefully find his dad if he was still alive. The video ended leaving many people wondering what happened after the video was filmed.

Ten years later, Sergei is now 28 and living in California. Some commenters read on earlier instagram posts from Sergei that he did in fact walk from Salt Lake City to California.

According to one of his old facebook pages, Sergei did in fact graduate high school in 2012. Other than that, there aren’t many details on what happened next but he looks to be doing well and no longer homeless.
